Wine -Defination and classification
Definition of Wine: Wine is an alcoholic beverage made primarily from the fermentation of grapes , although other fruits can be used (such as apples or berries). The natural chemical balance of grapes lets them ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water, or other nutrients. The fermentation process converts the sugars in the grapes into alcohol and carbon dioxide, producing wine. Classification of Wine: Wine can be classified in several ways, based on different criteria: 1. Based on Color: Type of Wine Description Red Wine Made from red or black grapes; fermented with grape skins to extract color and tannins.
